Conscious Communication

Most spiritual seekers value common principles such as love and peace. And yet sometimes, despite our best intentions, our communication backfires and seems to produce misunderstanding and conflict instead. Very often, this occurs with the people and situations in our lives that we care the most about.

At First Postmodern Christian Church, we seek to live our lives in ways that are congruent with our spiritual values. We actively support each other in developing conscious patterns of communication that express our spiritual values. Through shared reading, discussion, role plays, and practicing in groups, we develop more skillful ways to authentically communicate our needs while still honoring and respecting the needs of the other people in our lives. Through this practice, we each bring our spiritual intentions and values into our relationships, our families, our communities, and our places of work.

Rick and Nelle have facilitated classes in Conscious Communication in Astoria, Oregon at Clatsop Community College, Designing Health, and for local non-profits such as the Astoria Warming Center and Helping Hands Re-entry Program.
