Reverends Nelle Moffett & Rick Bowers. After retiring from our careers we both attended The New Seminary headquartered in New York City. We are ordained interfaith ministers from The Interfaith Temple, also in New York. Both of us were raised in Christian families and attended church up through our teenage years. Both of us became dissatisfied with various aspects of Christian theology which made no sense to us—although we remained deeply spiritual. In our independent studies and our Interfaith training, we now have a broader context, understanding, and appreciation for the teachings of Jesus. We also feel that the role of Christianity in this country is central to the development of our values as a nation and world leader. We are concerned by the decline of energy and interest in the Christian message and would like to contribute to revitalizing and modernizing the universal and revolutionary perspective that Jesus taught.
